Our Background

Stromsten Enterprises is a family-run business and was inspired by our family's longstanding tradition in the British Columbia logging industry. Today, we proudly continue this legacy. Presently headquartered in Kamloops, British Columbia, our journey has led us far from our modest beginnings with just one truck.

Our mission is clear: to deliver top-tier trucking services to clients in oil and gas, civil, forestry, and mining.

Catering to projects of all sizes, we offer a range of trucking configurations. What sets us apart is not just our meticulously maintained fleet, but our experienced management team. They are the backbone of our operations, ensuring that every project is executed with the highest level of professionalism, expertise, and efficiency. While we hold dear the values of a family-founded company, we understand the exacting demands of large organizations and ensure that your projects are in safe and experienced hands.

The Stromsten team is fully committed to supporting our customers' projects—from pre-construction feasibility studies, through to start-up and operation. We believe our demonstrated commitment and our combined experience and capabilities uniquely qualify us to deliver transportation services safely, on time and within budget.

Safety

Safety is the highest priority in everything we do—we share a common goal of zero injuries and zero accidents on every project we are awarded and proudly hold an "Excellent rating" and 93% score on our CVSE carrier profile. Our staff and management lead by example, maintaining an unwavering commitment to safety. This management commitment combined with our industry leading driver-led safety programs will result in a safe project outcome.

Driver Engagement

Stromsten Enterprises creates a culture in which everyone has a voice. A committee of operational managers meet weekly with supervisors to analyze safety concerns brought forth by the drivers and develop practical, effective solutions.

Safety Observation Program

Employees and subcontractors are responsible for submitting safety observations monthly to management. Observations are analyzed to identify trending data, and safety procedures are updated to mitigate identified issues.

Job Hazard Analysis (JHA's)

JHAs are preemptive and detailed hazard assessments performed at the work site by drivers and supervisors. The crew identifies potential hazards and mitigation strategies for each work task assigned, and potential hazards are identified and mitigated before a trip begins.

“At Stromsten Enterprises, there is only one way to conduct business — with safety in mind. We utilize processes and tools to ensure all levels of the organization stay safe on the job."
- Matt Stromsten, President

Providing a safe working environment for those on the project is Stromsten Enterprises' moral and ethical obligation. Our safety processes protect employees, save money, help maintain schedule, enhance the work environment and benefit project owners and the communities in which we work.

Local Approach

Local Resource Strategy

We are committed to earning the trust and support of the people who live and work in and around the project area, and we understand these relationships are essential to the success of projects. Through open dialogue and interaction with the community we will ensure the public, individuals and businesses will benefit in a positive way including training, employment and subcontracting opportunities.

Aboriginal Engagement

Aboriginal engagement is developing a broader, more inclusive and continuous process between Stromsten Enterprises and Aboriginal communities who may be impacted by resource based, industrial or commercial development. It encompasses a range of activities through the life of a project and reflects broader changes on how business is conducted. A project specific plan can be developed when a project arises, but this is generally how Stromsten Enterprises approaches engagement:

1. Employment

Aboriginals are a young and fast growing demographic in Canada. Collaborative recruitment processes and career planning will be set up through active engagement and consultation. It is an opportunity to and ask "How many potential employees do you have in your community and what do we need to do to ensure that there will be qualified applicants and successful employees?"

2. Education

Post Secondary Scholarships and in-house training programs are some areas to examine to see what would have the most benefit for the stakeholders and the company. To encourage the recruitment and retention of Aboriginal employees, Stromsten Enterprises may participate in a range of eduction and training initiatives which could include employability skills training.

3. Contractors and Suppliers

Prioritization of qualified Aboriginal contractors and suppliers for any subcontracting and vendor requirements.
